Trap shooting began
in America around 1800, gained popularity in Europe around 1880, and
became an Olympic sport in 1900. Trap shooting was followed by Skeet
and Double Trap as Olympic sports.
These
three sports are still represented at the Olympics, while new specialities
such as Compak sporting, Electrocibles, Universal trap, and Sporting clay,
have led to the creation of specific competitions that have won thousands
of fans.
Sixth
Olympic Gold
Much
to our satisfaction and pride, B&P won the sixth Olympic gold
in Sidney 2000.
Excellent expression
of this great joy, the Lithuanian shooter Daina Gudzineviciutè,
climbed the highest step of the podium, shooting 'F2 3 Bis' in trap
discipline.
