The Gordon system requires no compression: just a simple rolling of the original open-base bottom, which is "hemmed" on the internal, pre-shaped reinforcement.

The Gordon system requires no retention dies or compression punches: the internal reinforcement and the pre-shaped bottom are not changed from their original profiles. They are tightly connected to the tube, simply but effectively, first with assembly (i.e., with insertion of the tube and then of the internal reinforcement in the open base of the bottom), and then with rolling of the tail of the bottom on the internal reinforcement.
