PHOTODEGRADABLE WADDING
It is known that polyethylene, a plastic material generally used in wadding, is subjected to degradation by the more energetic components of solar radiation. Degradation is a progressive loss of chemical and physico-mechanical properties of a material until it reached total disintegration.
Total “natural disintegration” through light, however, is a very long process. Nevertheless, special substances can be added to the plastic to increase the sun’s action and significantly reduce degradation time.
The mix developed by B&P and used in the manufacture of ecological wadding is characterised by a remarkably shorter average life than with material manufactured without any additive, while keeping its mechanical properties unaltered at the time of shooting.
