PASSION FOR EXCELLENCE SINCE 1885
Since 1885, our history has been one of technical distinction that is a guarentee of excellence and reliability for the most demanding shooters, hunters and shooting conditions.
If you are shooting in a tournament or wing shooting, Baschieri & Pellagri is the name you know and trust to always perform flawlessly, regardless of shooting conditions.
The Baschieri & Pellagri name has been synonymous with world-class quality in hunting and competition since 1885.
1885
THE BEGINNING
Baschieri & Pellagri was founded in Bologna, the capital of chemical research. Settimio Baschieri, a dedicated hunter and Guido Pellagri, a chemistry graduate, began their first experiments in creating a smokeless gunpowder, as opposed to the black powder which was the only one in use at the time. The result of their research was Acapnia powder, from the Greek “smokeless”, the first white gunpowder.
THE 1920s
THE FIRST TEST BENCH
Baschieri & Pellagri realizes the first test bench, in a private company, for testing powders and shotshells. The aim, in this period, is to perfect existing products at the same time as investigating new ones, adapting the plant and machinery and the skills of the people involved.
THE 1930’S & 1940’S
MB, THE BIRTH OF A LEGEND
Baschieri & Pellagri begins shotshells production. The debut of MB Tigre and MB Tricolor were made after years of research and performance testing. These brands are still famous and well-known today. During this period, the company begins sponsoring some of the top shooters of the era to promote and grow the B&P brand among competitive shooters.
THE 1950’S & 1960’S
THE CHALLENGE OF PLASTIC WADS
During these years, the company begins the industrial shotshells loading, becoming one of the leading national manufacturers. With specific focus to the sport , Baschieri & Pellagri works on special loading to guarantee the best results to its athletes worldwide.
Important projects are dedicated to development of the plastic wads to start a new era and introduce new products.
The 1950s and 1960s marked important milestones for the Olympic victories of B&P shooters.
THE 1970’s & 1980’s
TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION
Baschieri & Pellagri focuses on the study of technically sophisticated and niche products. Thanks to in-house know-how and continuous research into innovation and performance, the Gordon case emerges.
This project represents the only real revolution in the history of a shotshell case, which turns it from an inert element into a very active one by reducing the felt recoil at the point of ignition. The success of B&P’s products continues with The Olympic Games victories in Munich and Moscow.
THE 1990’s
THE GORDON REVOLUTION
After initial development, Baschieri & Pellagri concentrates on the industrial loading of shotshells with Gordon case, which became an integral part of the company’s image and DNA.
Research & Development activities continue to grow and, after careful study and testing, the “Steel” range of wads specifically for steel shot loading was introduced.
THE 2000’s
GOALS AND NEW CHALLENGES
Baschieri & Pellagri forges long-term partnerships with major international companies.
Investments in R&D continue for the creation of specific components such as wads, to expand both the range of gauges and materials for different uses.
Similarly, the study and design of premium shotshells loaded with alternative materials to lead is intensified and a whole range dedicated to the American market is created. B&P products continue to be successful at the Sydney, Beijing and London Olympic Games.
THE 2020’s
NEW FRONTIERS AND INNOVATION
After a long-standing relationship with Fiocchi Munizioni, Baschieri & Pellagri is acquired and incorporated within the Fiocchi Group. This creates synergies in innovation and resources to support both brands. In the same period Baschieri & Pellagri develops the innovative Green Core project, dedicated to 100% biodegradable components.
These are wads that allow ballistic performance in line with or better than traditional plastic materials. R&D investments continue, underpinning Baschieri & Pellagri’s philisophy, always focused on anticipating trends, bringing innovation to the market, and providing customers with exceptional experiences.
